In early 2011 Residency Unlimited and PointB Worklodge started working together in view of enhancing the residency experience for international artists in New York. Whereas RU helps secure funding to cover residency costs and provides customized logistical and network support to the participating artists, PointB provides a unique system of fully equipped short-term studio lofts that are designed to enhance production and exploration of one’s work. In addition to the work/live studio, the international lodgers have the possibility to participate inregular in-house events to foster the artist to artist interaction. In its first year, the RU/Point B partnership enabled the hosting of artists Fred Forest (France) and Yoon Young Park (Korea).
PointB Worklodge was founded in 1996 and has grown to more than 600 members over the past 15 years. The mission of PointB is to enable and enhance mobile lifestyles of creative professionals by providing flexible, ready-to-use working and living spaces and developing a shared global community of worklodges for interdisciplinary, and cross-cultural exchange.
