Smart water project in Ulaanbaatar
March 19 – April 19, 2016
Tuguldur Yondonjamts was commissioned by Arts Council of Mongolia to develop an ice sculpture idea as part of the Smart Water campaign for World Water Day in Ulaanbaatar. His proposal consists of a visualization of Mongolian throat singing sound wave in the form of an ice sculpture. According to a Mongolian legend throat singing was inspired from a river sound in the Altai mountains. Yondonjamts sculptural idea was executed by a team of sculptors leaded by Ts. Batmunkh and installed on Chinggis Square in Ulaanbaatar on March 22, World Water Day.
The Smart Water campaign includes a series of programs, including Mongolian and International film screenings, talks with water experts and educational conversations. The project was lead by Nomintuya B. and Oyundari Kh. from the Arts Council of Mongolia with the cooperation of the Embassy of the United States in Ulaanbaatar.
