Bio/Statement:
Nikica Jurković is the recipient of the 2024 Radoslav Putar Award.
Nikica Jurković’s artistic practice is based on the process of creation and / or change of works over time. Using various objects and materials from his everyday life, Nikica creates works of abstract content with minimal interventions.
He graduated from Visual Communication Design at the School of Design at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Zagreb (2012) and afterward from the Graphic Arts Department at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb (2018), with the highest honor of Summa Cum Laude. As part of the Erasmus+ program, he completed the Bellas Artes undergraduate course at the Complutense University in Madrid (2017). Nikica Jurković received an honorable mention at the 34th Youth Artists Salon and the Radoslav Putar Award in 2024. He is a member of the Croatian Freelance Artists Association (HZSU) and the Croatian Association of Artists (HDLU). He participated in the Hafenkombinat residency in Leipzig, Germany (2019 and 2024).
His recent solo exhibitions include: This is the Doomed Duck at Klet Gallery, Zagreb (2024); This is the Duck at Galerija B2, Belgrade, Serbia (2024); DUAL ”Untitled”: Nikica Jurković – Goran Trbuljak, Zagreb, Croatia (2023). His selected group exhibitions include Winter Stories 2 at Dots Gallery, Belgrade (2024); 29th Slavonian Biennale at Waldinger Gallery, Osijek (2024); Radoslav Putar Award at Salon Galić, Split (2024); Draw – What is Contemporary Drawing and What Can It All Be?, international exhibition at Multimedia Cultural Centre Gallery, Split, Croatia (2022).
