Bio/Statement:
Beyza Dilem Topdal is an artist and researcher working with interdisciplinary methodologies. Interested in theories of cyborg, ecofeminism, biophilosophy, and new materialism, her practice aims to deconstruct and reconstruct local to global narratives by following the natureculture encounters. Topdal continues her academic research as a Ph.D. candidate in Design, Technology, and Society program at Özyeğin University, currently working on human and more-than-human marine entanglements of Bosphorus with ethnographic methods.
In her installations, Topdal applies different tools and technologies such as video, found objects, printed materials, interactive media, and creative coding. Her work has been widely exhibited in Istanbul, Paris, and London since 2017. Notable group exhibitions include: What Water Knows at Pilot Gallery, Istanbul (2022); Cyborg Encounters at Istanbul Technical University, Istanbul (2019); M.I.I. Manifold at TTC, London (2019). She is one of the award-winning artists in the Rotary Art Fund 2021-2022 period. She is a selected artist of Piksel New Media Residency Program 2022. She also works as exhibitor relations manager for a newly launched art fair, Noise Media Art, Istanbul.
