Part one of a three-part series of public sculpture.

Saturday, July 02, 2016
3:00 pm – 6:00 pm

The public is invited to join Queens-based artist Daniel Valle in collecting, discussing and collectively sculpting trash from the neighborhood. Special guest Dalia Baasseri will speak about her artistic project responding to the trash crisis in Lebanon. Local Project, an arts space from Long Island City, brings this project to Jameco Exchange.

Parts one and two of this three-part series take place at Jameco Exchange on Saturday, July 2, and Friday, July 8, from 3 to 6pm. Part three of this series will take place at Local Project on Tuesday, July 19, and will consist of an open studio workshop from 10am to 6pm, during which time participants from workshops one and two will be invited to work with artists Daniel Valle and Annalisa Ladiccio to finalize the collective sculpture made of trash. Upon completion, the sculpture will be displayed as part of Local Project’s exhibition Paradise in the City, on view through July 30th. Local Project received support for this initiative from the Citizens Committee for New York City.
