Located in Sala delle Colonne at Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan, Progetto Città Ideale, is a work-in-progress residency-workshop that aims at developing a new cultural hub with the intention to involve the arts community in a productive intellectual exchange.
Atrii_Sezione Piani, as the final module of this project, will investigate the concept of atrium or entrance hall from a processual and theoretical point of view. The project, conceived by the visual artist Alice Pedroletti in partnership with Città Ideale, asks the artists involved to think a site-specific or conceptual work for the space of an atrium. The expected result of this research is the creation of a strong connection among artist, place and territory. Every involved artist will invite another artist to participate in the same artistic process, creating a geography of available Artworks. Institutions or inhabitants will then be able to realize the projects with the artist.
Within the project Atrii_Sezione Piani, Claudio Zecchi, independent curator and a visiting curator of the project (http://performativepractices.blogspot.it/p/about.html), will curate a lecture and two talks that aim at investigate the relationship between art and the public space and how the artistic, curatorial and institutional practices are engaged with the territory and local communities.
