He will present Abrasives II, my new series of scraping on sandpaper.
Harold Guérin is a visual artist born in 1981 and works between Orbais l’Abbaye and Paris. He graduated from the Nancy National School of Art in 2006.
For this second participation of the artist, the direction of DDESSINPARIS proposes a new series of drawings entitled Abrasives II, proposal supported by Anne Muraro, collector and engaged with the young contemporary art scene.
Harold Guérin works with a novel technique, scraping on sandpaper, in an abrasive mode. The artist’s gesture is on the border with other artistic disciplines. Although it does not free itself from the field of drawing, it nevertheless implies graphic representations at the edge of the sculpture. The imminence of the gesture, prolonging the hand by the working complicity of the tool, is questioned by this practice. The singular traces that then surface on the skin of the medium interrogate the viewer as to the act, the meaning and the reception of the drawing. This trace is actually that left by the artist on a sheet of sandpaper: the material is rough, scraped by the artist so as to reveal clouds of dust, fragments of emptiness and absence in the material.
