Call for Performers! Antonia Dias Leite – Sein und Zeit

Call for performers

Antonia Dias Leite
Sein und Zeit
Video and photography project
October 4-5
NARS Studios – 201 46th Street 4th Floor, Brooklyn, NY 11220

Antonia Dias Leite (http://antoniadiasleite.com) is looking for performers to be part of her video and photography series titled “Sein und Zeit (Being and Time)” in which she explores issues of eroticism and the psychoanalytical correlations between mortality and sexuality in the human experience.

More about the project:
To see the first video piece of the series, please visit: http://vimeo.com/97782823

The performance in this video series will portray bodies intertwining, consuming one another; the erotic experience as an act of violence and cannibalism. The set will be composed by a series of fragmented mirrors in order to extend the “body landscape” and thus eliminate the boundaries between one body and the next. The series references old Renaissance nude paintings, a result that is achieved by placing interference layers in front of the lens.

“Nakedness offers a contrast to self-possession, to discontinuous existence, in other words. It is a state of communication revealing a quest for a possible continuance of being beyond the confines of the self.”

– Georges Bataille, L’Érotisme.

Profile needed:
To further intensify this idea of boundless/genderless body parts the artist is looking for:

  • 5 to 7 women and/or men over 21 years old with androgynous features and supple bodies
  • Comfortable performing nude – faces will mostly be invisible as the artist focuses more on the body.
  • No previous experience necessary
  • Please note that this performance is unpaid, however the artist will provide pizza and
    beer.
