Since last fall, contemporary art exhibits featuring work by local, New York-based and international artists have graced the space of the Old Louisville Chamber of Commerce in a new project called IDEAS 40203.
Artist and Old Louisville resident Theo Edmunds helped arrange the project last year.
“It’s been about identifying low-cost and effective ways to put artists and residents of Louisville and elsewhere in dialogue with each other using contemporary art as a conduit, letting relationships flourish as they might and stimulating the economy,” Edmunds said.
He’s overseen IDEAS 40203, which stands for International Dialogue and Engagement Art Space, working with the Old Louisville Chamber of Commerce and the New York-based Residency Unlimited, where he holds the title of creative development director. That organization was founded in 2009 to help coordinate and find money for residencies for U.S. and international artists and curators to work at museums, galleries and other entities in New York and abroad.
