Bio/Statement:
Talita Zaragoza is an artist based in New York who mainly works with painting, drawing, and photography. Her inspiration derives from the relationship between men and nature and its will to dominate and reshape the landscape leaving its mark.
In her paintings and drawings, the artist combines a collection of landscape memories, recreating one that refers to imaginary maps. Maps that are constantly changing adapting to a new political or environmental situation, or more importantly, a different perception from the observer.
Zaragoza has shown her work internationally, particularly in São Paulo and New York. Select venues she has exhibited at include Lume Gallery, Foley Gallery, Lazy Susan Gallery, Emma Thomas Gallery, The International Center for Photography, SP Arte, MAB FAAP, The Hollows and Interventions 3, curated by Isidro Blasco. More recently at Carmo Johnson Projects, Poéticas do Habitar curated by Carolina Lauriano, in São Paulo, and Futuro Oasis at Galeria Lume and Gisela Projects.
She has attended four artist’s residencies: The Hollows (New York), The Marble House (Dorset, Vermont); Jardim do Hermes (Sao Paulo) and The Fish Factory (Iceland). Her works are in private and public collections including the Museu de Arte Conteporânea de Sorocaba (MACBA).
