Bio/Statement:
Paula Malinowska is one of the 2024 laureates of the Oskar Čepan Award for contemporary art in Slovakia.
Paula Malinowska is a digital artist and photographer based in Bratislava. Her artistic practice includes CGI audiovisual works, 3D graphics, animation and 3D printing techniques. Her artistic research is based on studies in the field of biology, climatology or the development of digital technologies. Working with elements of fantasy and fiction, her work explores the mutual relationship between science and myth, the rational and the intuitive, in the hope of connecting them.
In 2022, Paula Malinowska became the winner of an Secondary Archive open call for female artists from the V4 countries (Platform for female artists from Central and Eastern Europe). In 2023, she was one of the artists in residency in MuseumsQuartier in Vienna, Austria.
She has presented her work in international group exhibitions and events, such as Ctrl + ↑ for Coyote Time at Trafó Gallery, Budapest (2024), Whoever settles down in a perfect home, will have to move at Glassbox, Paris (2023), FALL OPEN STUDIOS at AiR 351, Cascais, Portugal (2022). Slovak presentations include collective exhibitions such as Will I Ever Look Into Your Eyes Again? at Šopa Gallery, Košice (2024), Fossora at Bratislava City Gallery (2023), and Disappearing Body at Schaubmar Mill, SNG (2021).
