Bio / Statement:

In his practice Mads Lindberg attempts to contextualize his paintings discursively within a historical field of painting but also to position them in relation to the visual mechanics of images that circulate and move in digital space, that are “robbed of a certain status because in the contingent juxtaposition their specific context strives against nothing”. By recognizing this seeming contradiction Lindberg tries to formalize the existential fragility of the images he produces.

Somehow his works” cannot be in their place because they are as placeless as they are fragile revealing a kind of vulnerability, having fallen out of space and time. Above all they reveal their own disparagement, which made it possible for them to achieve a dignity in the first place. Lindberg´s works does not seem to be pure paintings or works; they are sketches that show a cartography of connection, transitions and relations.
