Born in Lévis (Québec), Jacynthe Carrier lives and work in Québec and Montreal. Through the use of photography and video, her work is an exploration of mise en scène and performance in modern-day territory. Carrier obtained her Master’s degree in fine arts at Concordia University. Her work has been presented in several solo and group shows in Canada (La Triennale Québécoise 2011, La Manifestation d’art de Québec 2008, Le musée régional de Rimouski, Le Centre de la photographie VU, La galerie de l’UQAM). Her videos have been screened internationally. In 2013 she was awarded the Pierre Ayot Prize for an emerging artist in Montreal and was longlisted, for the Quebec province,for the Canadian Sobey Award Prize.
Jacynthe Carrier's first solo show Les Eux is currently featured at the Galerie Antoine Ertaskiran, Montreal and on view until October 5, 2013 .
Jacynthe Carrier’s 2 months residency (September-October 2013) is supported by Le Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec (CALQ).
