Bio / Statement:
Anna Orlikowska’s practice is defined by the concept of “space activation” and involves a variety of media ranging from installation, performance, sculpture, video, drawing, text, and sound. Through the generative strategy of translating one medium into another, the act of listening is essential to the artist’s process in her explorations of the complex relationship between the ear and the eye and their relatedness to other senses. Orlikowska investigates the physicality of sound and its site-specific relations to architecture, its impact on the body and the imagination of the listener.
Anna Orlikowska’s most recent solo exhibitions include “Anna Orlikowska, April Martin, Elisabeth Van Loan” at The Suburban, Milwaukee (2016) and “Can you hear me?” (2015) at CCA Ujazdowski Castle in Warsaw.
