In the summer 2013, Pioneer Works and Residency Unlimited (RU) chose to create a new initiative to select an international artist from RU’s roster of residents who has a studio based practice. Through this initiative, the selected artist can create new work in a subsidized work space a Pioneer Works’ brick and timber building in Redhook whilst benefiting from RU’s ongoing customized support. The first selected artist was the Swiss artist Tashi Braun, followed by in the Fall/Winter 2013, French artist Christine Laquet.
RU artists occupying studios at Pioneer include: in 2014, Pedro Wirtz (CH), Andres Carranza (Costa Rica), Adam Stone (Australia), Rosalie Rosenthal (USA), Daniel Horowitz (NY), and Alex Verhaest (Belgium); in 2015, RU artists Hyon Gyon (NY), Joséphine Kaeppelin (France), Recycle Group (Russia), and Radek Szlaga (Poland); and in 2016, Rodrigo Hernández (Mexico City).
