Joana Escoval’s practice has been establishing an extremely idiosyncratic relation with nature. Energy is in constant flux and natural elements intertwine. The cosmos’s incommensurability is overwhelming. In her works everything is about to disappear or becoming something else. Transformation is central to understanding Escoval’s practice and like energy flows, never being lost, never being gained, so does her works. Extremely delicate pieces, metal sculptures, clay pots, water puddles, moss, seashells or leaves gathered in tropical forests are just some of the elements of a practice that is extremely quiet but bursting with life.
