The School of Visual Arts (SVA) and Residency Unlimited’s partnership started in 2014 with Video Conversations. RU artists Ana Bilankov, Franck Lesbros and Rodrigo Imaz in discussion with RU resident curator Isin Önol presented their individual practice to students of the Master of Arts degree in Curatorial Practice at School of Visual Arts (SVA).
In April 2015, Boshko Boskovic, RU Program Director and Jovana Stoic, Deputy Chair of MA Curatorial Practice at SVA organized and moderated the panel discussion Residence Hopping: A Curatorial Affair on the state of curatorial affairs in artist residencies with Claudia Cannizzaro of Art Omi, Sean J Patrick Carney of BHQFU, Agnieszka Kurant artist, and Laurel Ptak of Triangle Arts Residency.
In September 2015, RU Artists Sophia Hewson, David Helbich, HsiangLu Meng, Pors & Rao, and Marie Edinger Plum presented their work to a group of student of the Master of Arts degree in Curatorial Practices.
In November 2016, RU Artists Leasho Johnson, Nina Simonovic, Jonas Weber Herrera, Shurui Li, Diogo Pimentão, Kato Six, Bruno Baptistelli presented their work to a group of students of the Curatorial Practice program.
In September 2017, RU artists Farideh Sakhaeifar, Andras Blazcek, Simon Hudolin, Mimi Cherono Ng’ok, Andreia Santana, Chen An-An, Ada van Hoorebeke, Tessa Mars, Barbora Kleinhamplová, Asia Sztencel, and Kuniyasu Sakaizawa presented their work to MFA students in Curatorial Studies at SVA at RU.
Following this exchange, in October 2017, RU artists Tessa Mars and Farideh Sakhaeifar were invited to participate in the exhibition Memory of Oblivion curated by by MA Curatorial Practice fellow María Sáenz. Th exhibition took pace at CP Projects Space.
In October 2017, Emma Adler, Jelena Mijic, Christine Mills, Youngho Lee, Yun Han Chang, Eva Davidova, Carolina Paz, Kristy Hughes, and Naomi Okubo presented their work to MFA students in Curatorial Studies at SVA at RU.
