Bio/Statement:
Yan Jingzhou’s recent body of work revolves around the ongoing project “Buster”, a fictional yet reflective world that examines the absurdities and emotional contradictions of contemporary life. Through the figure of “Buster”—a recurrent alter ego who shifts between humor and melancholy—he explores how images, desires, and technologies construct our perception of reality. The project functions as both a psychological map and a painterly experiment, where the boundary between the personal and the collective constantly dissolves.
His solo exhibitions include Love Is Love, Tang Contemporary Art, Hong Kong (2025); All Around Buster Town, Tang Contemporary Art, Beijing (2024); Buster’s Love, Tang Contemporary Art, Bangkok (2023). Yan Jingzhou has been featured in group exhibitions, such as XSWL, White Rabbit Gallery, Sydney (2025); Layered Skin, Tang Contemporary Art, Hong Kong (2023); First Encounter, Yue Art Museum, Beijing (2022); Jungle of All Forms, Haihui Art Museum, Zhengzhou (2022). His works have been showcased at major international art fairs, including Art Basel Hong Kong (2025), ART021 Beijing (2025), ART021 Shanghai (2024), Art Taipei (2023 & 2024), and Art Busan (2023). Jingzhou’s works are in the collection of White Rabbit Gallery, Sydney, Australia, and in private collections in Thailand, China, Hong Kong, and South Korea.
