Bio/Statement:
Taeho Choi is an independent curator based in Seoul, South Korea. His work focuses on artistic mobility, transnational exchange, and the institutional conditions that shape cultural production across East Asia and Europe. Through exhibitions, research, writing, and public programs, he explores how artists, images, and ideas move across borders and how these movements influence contemporary understandings of memory, identity, and place. Working closely with artists from diverse regional and institutional contexts, Choi is particularly interested in the uneven realities of mobility and the political, social, and emotional dimensions that accompany it. Alongside his curatorial practice, he contributes essays, reviews, and critical texts to contemporary art publications, engaging with questions of artistic mobility, cultural exchange, and contemporary curatorial practice.
Recent projects include Plate Boundary, Boundary Port, commissioned as part of the 13th Ulsan International Woodcut Print Festival, where he served as International Commissioner (2025); Adonis Syndrome, Galerija ASNI, Riga, Latvia (2025); Reflections of Taiwan: Crossroads of Memory and Place, Soulangh Cultural Park, Tainan, Taiwan (2024); CONNECTING POINT – Slovak & Czech Contemporary Art in Korea, Sun Blanket Foundation, Seoul, South Korea (2024); AHRONG GEUMDONG – Cité Open Studio Presentation, Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris, France (2024); and South of the Border, West of the Sun – On Multiple Belongings, Lazy Mike Gallery, Seoul, South Korea (2024). He has also initiated and developed a range of international exhibitions and collaborative projects connecting artists, institutions, and cultural organizations across South Korea, Taiwan, the Baltic States, Central Europe, and Southeast Asia.
Currently, Choi is developing long term curatorial and research initiatives that explore cultural diplomacy, artistic mobility, and new models of international collaboration. During his residency in New York, he is focused on expanding networks between artists and institutions across Asia, Europe, and North America while exploring new possibilities for sustained international exchange and cooperation.
