Bio/Statement:

David Přílučík was one of the 2022 recipients of the Jindřich Chalupecký Award.

What is natural about a disaster and what is artificial about intelligence? David Přilučík’s works are places where we encounter the limits of Western imagination and rationality. In them, the artist weaves human and other subjects into various aesthetic modes, including the moving image, installations, objects and live events.

David Přílučík collaborates with Artyčok TV on notable projects, including “The Art of the Anthropocene” (2019) with Anna Remešová, “The Design of the Anthropocene” (2022) with Klára Peloušková, and a long-term Unprotected Nature project (2022–2024).

David initiated the “Divoká Šárka” project in 2019, an ongoing reflection on the phenomenon of nature reserves, which he is currently developing with Ruta Putramentaite and Sara Märc. His work has been presented at various independent galleries and institutions in the Czech Republic, including Meetfactory, PLATO, the National Film Archive, and the National Gallery Prague. Internationally, he has showcased his work through programs such as the Q21 artist residency at MuseumsQuartier Vienna.

Notably, his work titled “Blind Bidding” was awarded the main prize in the Other Visions section at the 2017 PAF Festival in Olomouc. In 2022, David Přílučík became a co-holder of the Jindřich Chalupecký Award.
