After several years of exhibition work by the Commission for Fine Arts of the municipality of Riehen in the Villa Berowergut and in the parish hall, the Kunst Raum Riehen established from 1998 to an important platform for contemporary art, which also finds strong attention beyond the borders, to a coveted institution and a springboard for some, today internationally recognized artists.With high standards of quality and a purposefully oriented program, local, regional and international art is imparted in a variety of exhibitions and events, connections to other arts such as fashion, architecture, music and film are sought.
With 20 selected artist positions – corresponding to the 20th anniversary – the anniversary exhibition sees itself not only as an appreciation of the institution and its function as a trailblazer of pioneering art, but also as a tribute to all artists and their art, which contributed to the reputation of the house to have.
