Reflections of Taste and Place: a multi-sensory celebration of Israeli art, food and wine
April 15th, 2012 4:30 – 6:30 PM
Astor Center for Food and Wine
399 Lafayette at East 4th Street, NYC, NY
Tickets: $20
Any serious wine taster can tell you about the importance of earth, or place in a wine’s flavor profile, any immigrant can speak of the memories of home invoked by certain dishes. Reflection of Taste and Place expands this notion to include all the senses bringing Israeli artists, chefs, and producers together in a hands-on exploration of a relationship to place through flavors, smells, and textures. Guy Goldstein’s unique art pieces raise questions of home and immigration, labor and process. His artwork is echoed in new ways by Chef Einav Gefen’s delicious culinary creations,Taboon restaurant’s fresh offerings, a guided tasting of wines by prominent Israeli winery Recanati, and by Chef Lior Lev Sercarz’s hands-on spice mixing workshop.
Live music, a chance to meet and talk to the artists and chefs, an opportunity to engage all the sense and to take home an individual spice-mixture “souvenir!”
