Bio/ Statement:
In her work, Nina Simonovic brings together her interest for the present day world and important issues of the time with a highly subjective sense of her position as an artist. Through different media – drawing, sound, images and web, the artist explores the questions of time, traces and memory. Simonovic performs a process where gestures, time and tools become forms. They bear a persistent feeling of the simultaneous presence of the I and 0, of the rational and the sensitive, fast and slow, political and intimate, noise and silence, violence and softness.
Nina Simonovic is the recipient of the Mangelos 2016 award for young artists in Serbia which provides her with a 2 month residency at RU and a solo exhibition arger returning to Belgrade.
