Bio/Statement:
Lucas Maddock grew up in the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne Australia and began his visual art career in the street art movements of the late 90’s and early 00’s. He studied at the Swinburne Institute of Design and developed a career in graphic communication before turning his interests towards contemporary art practice. He attained a BA in Fine Art from the Victorian Collage of Art in 2008 and is working from the Artery Artists Co-op in Northcote, Victoria. His current interests relate to art and text, installation and spatial practice, urban intervention, collaboration and post-medium modes of practice. Recent projects include Apostle No.2, which won both the Professional Development and Civic Choice awards in the Melbourne Prize for Urban Sculpture and features currently in the McClelland Sculpture Survey & Award, and a solo exhibition Perpetual Assemblage / SEEN + HEARD at Kings ARI, Melbourne. Maddock maintains an artists blog titled Perpetual assemblage.
