Open Studio
Friday May 24th, 6-9pm
Room 410, The Clemente, 107 Suffolk Street
Join artist, designer and maker Paula Dunlop for an open studio to mark the end of her residency with Residency Unlimited and Artist Alliance Inc’s LES Studio Program.
Experimental works undertaken during residency explore the formal potential of fork pins—steel implements commonly used in domestic knitting. The works call attention to the pins’ purity and integrity, and also their ability to come together as a building material. Photograms catch the intricate metal assemblages on paper; ephemeral impressions of the sculptural works before their eventual dismantlement.
The open studio is an opportunity to view these works-in-progress, as well as a chance to see and try previews of a new wearables range which similarly marks a departure from Dunlop’s recent use of glass materials, toward metal—sterling silver.
Please RSVP your attendance to paula@pauladunlop.com.au
Paula Dunlop works across both fashion design and fine art. Her materials- and process-driven practice draws from embroidery, weaving and garment-making to create both objects and works-on-paper.
