Check out the Current Events in the Classroom: Responding Through Art blog from RU’s first educational program aimed to integrate contemporary art projects and methodologies into a social social studies curriculum. In preparation for sessions with teaching artist and RU artist-in-residencyErin Dunn, the blog served as a key resource for the four 8th grade students in Mr. Passaro’s Law class at I.S. 187.

Here you can see how lessons were connected to contemporary art practice, grappling with everything from the interview as medium to labor as a subject. Visitors to the blog can also viewstudent work, assignments, articles, videos, images, and other visual materials.
