Meet Over Lunch: Flávia Dalla Bernardina and the art scene in Vitória

The independent curator and intellectual property attorney Flávia Dalla Bernardina, currently in residency at RU, will present her perspective on how to foster and curate contemporary art in “off-center” locations. She will focus specifically on the art scene and cultural spaces in Vitória, island capital of the state of Espirito Santo in the southeast of Brazil where she is based. As Art Director of the Matias Brotas art gallery, Flávia will share her unique perspective on various art projects she is involved with and introduce New York audiences to local artists she works with such as Andreia Falqueto, Vilar, Hilal, Fernando Augusto, Rosana Paste, Rubiane Maia, Castiel Vittorino, Kika Carvalho, Rubiane Maia, Feijão, Ficore and Renato Ren.

About

Flávia Dalla Bernardina is an independent curator and intellectual property attorney based in Vitoria – ES.  As the Art Director at the Matias Brotas art gallery, her role includes the curation of multiple exhibitions, holding art events, producing artist’s books, assessing and following up artists and writing art critiques. She coordinates and writes for the art column of the local newspaper Arte + at Folha Vitoria.  She holds a Master Degree in Visual Arts from Espirito Santo Federal University (UFES) and is a senior researcher for art and law issues at GEDAI at Parana Federal University (UFPR).
