Location: Residency Unlimited
360 Court Street (main green church doors), Brooklyn NY 11231 (map)
In addition to taking place in-person at RU, this program will be streamed online via Zoom at this link.
As part of our Meet Over Lunch series, please join us for a lecture-performance by RU resident Julia Feldens, as she presents her ongoing project “Casa Líquida” (Liquid House) in São Paulo, Brazil. “Casa Líquida” is a performance about openness. By opening her domestic space to other people and uses, Julia reflects on issues such as family, motherhood, and property. In this lecture-performance, she will speak, as a performer and as a researcher, about the transformations that this artistic action causes in her body, in the bodies of her children, and in the body of the house as a building.
About
Julia Feldens is a performer, researcher and cultural producer based in São Paulo, Brazil. Since 2015, she has performed the Casa Líquida, a performance in which as an artist she opens her house to the outside world. The result of this experience is the creation of a territory of exchange that has welcomed more than 3,000 artists and researchers. Casa Líquida is also the subject of Julia’s research as an artist. In her Master’s degree between 2018 and 2021, she explored the economic dimension of this experience and analyzed the production of value in this performance-house. Currently pursuing a PhD, Julia reflects on the relationship between collectivity and creative processes. In 2022, Casa Líquida became an artistic residency that houses various artistic languages such as music, dance, visual arts, literature, photography and cinema.
