eaturing RU artist in residence Viktor Petrov in the RU voices interview series 🎤
Petrov is a Berlin-based Bulgarian artist and recipient of the 2023 BAZA Award for young contemporary artists in Bulgaria. His oeuvre brings together the social, the architectural, and the political body in a dialogue about structural violence. By carefully studying and combining mass products and construction materials, Petrov aims to deconstruct and rearrange the visual syntax of the predominant patriarchal, class, and economic narratives. His creative practice is research-based, both in theoretical and practical terms. Its conceptual grounds are tightly interwoven with the construction techniques and the materials chosen specifically for each project.
Viktor’s work was featured in the group exhibition, “Skin Deep”, curated by Izabela Gola at the RU House on Governors Island.
