RU voices with Rosario Aróstegui (Residency: April – June 2025)

Featuring RU artist in residence Rosario Aróstegui in the RU voices interview series 🎤

Rosario Aróstegui’s art explores the intersections of urban themes, human existence, and nature. Her creative process is marked by experimentation and personal reflection in a constantly changing world. Her works are characterized by innovative use of materials and profound explorations of memory, time, and human experience. Rosario invites viewers to reflect on the relationships between past and present, as well as the connections between humanity and the environment.

Rosario currently has a studio at the RU House on Governors Island and will present her work in the exhibition “It’s a Balance Trick” curated by Eglė Ambrasaitė. Her sculptural installation traces the entangled threads of cityscapes, human presence, and the living world. Working with found objects and recycled materials, she invites us to reflect on layered temporalities and the enduring interconnection between human infrastructure and (organic) life. Her work blurs the lines between built environments and ecological systems, revealing their mutual dependencies.
