We are thrilled to invite you to discover new works developed by RU artist Adriel Visoto over the course of his residency. Visoto’s highly distinctive creative process consists of small, exquisitely rendered paintings and drawings, whose imagery results from an inventory of personal experiences lived in New York, marked by opposing feelings such as estrangement and belonging, connection and isolation. The works presented — whether completed, in progress, or in a state of study — serve as material records and point toward possible future directions in the development of Visoto’s artistic research.
A selection of Adriel Visoto’s work will also be included in the group exhibition “Pass, Memory, Pause” curated by RU Curator Data Chigholashvili – opening on November 19 at 5:00 pm at Residency Unlimited (360 Court Street).
About:
Adriel Visoto creates small-scale figurative paintings and drawings, developing narratives that shift between intimate records and self-fiction. His personal and emotional images are surrounded by a saturated and monochromatic atmosphere, built from his private photographic archive and marked by the recurring use of limited palettes, glazes, and delicate brushstrokes. His work reveals fragments of private experience, where the pictorial gesture serves as an inscription and materialization of memory.
