Featuring RU curator in residence Chrislie Pérez Pérez (@chrislie.perez) in the RU voices interview series 🎤
Chrislie Pérez Pérez is a Havana based independent curator and art critic and founder of Piso 34 (@piso34.art), a project that supports women creators in Cuba. Chrislie is interested in the practices of women creators, whose work challenges dominant narratives through a decolonial framework, as well as those exploring gender as a critical and destabilizing force—not as a fixed category but as a lens through which to examine power, memory, and resistance, particularly, in the cultural and historical context of Cuba.
She is drawn to transdisciplinary methodologies, fostering dialogues between visual art, critical theory, and other media, while asserting curation itself as a creative and intellectual practice. Chrislie understands the role of a curator not as a neutral mediator but as an active creator—shaping discourse, generating meaning, and redefining artistic ecosystems. Her research extends to book art and the dynamics of the art market.
Chrislie Pérez Pérez’s residency is made possible with support from the Rockefeller Brothers Fund and the Cuban Artists Fund.
