Antonella Genuardi and Leonardo Ruta have been working together since 2014, forming a practice that unfolds from painting into space—architecture becoming not just a backdrop, but the core of their work. Their approach is guided by light, geometry, and a deep sensitivity to the essence of place. Whether freeing space from its usual function or constructing new ones through painting, their work invites us to reimagine how we inhabit and perceive the built world.
They describe their practice as a way of traveling and researching through looking: “Being an artist is knowing how to look everywhere. Looking is a way of traveling, a way of researching.”
Genuardi/Ruta work was recently in an exhibition, “A Color Spreads” at RU in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, curated by RU Curator Data Chigholashvil.
