Residency Unlimited (RU)
360 Court Street (enter the Church through the main entrance)
Brooklyn, NY 11231
Led by curator and founder Guadalupe García, this workshop will offer a testing ground for the newly developed ANT project. We will experience a group interactive session where the public will be invited to comment on five works realized by 5 RU artists Rashwan Abdelbaki, Maija Kovari, Lőrinc Borsos, Jérôme Stünzi and Lee Tzu Tung. Connections and divergent points of view about common subjects will emerge through these exchanges. The input and responses derived from each work will be organized as curatorial topics for future projects.
About:
The ANT Project is a platform for creators to connect with other creators.
Inspired by the collective intelligence of ants, we invite individuals, operating as a collective, to achieve remarkable goals that would be impossible for a single member to realize on their own. In that way, The ANT Project offers a horizontal structure of interaction where creators are able to exchange directly with other creators with no goal other than to reinforce the content and quality of their works. The interactions are organized as topics which in turn will lead to exhibition and publications projects.
The community will function as a self-organized complex system where no one member is monitoring the direction on the global level, but the responses of each individual leads the collective to find new ways in the creative process.
In the end, it is the interaction of individuals constructing value from their own resources, that responds to an act of consciousness.
The ANT PROJECT is motivated by the following:
-We believe that when creators engage in communication with each other, they empower the collective and themselves.
-We seek to foster conversations through an online platform that transcends geographic boundaries.
-We propose a space where creators value each other’s work directly, a space for unmediated conversations across genres, media, boundaries.
We invite you to be part of it.

Guadalupe García is an art historian and curator who believes in change. Her professional career as curator and assistant director in major museums in Mexico City and Miami, has made her realize the need for a different approach in terms of curation. She has always been concerned in supporting the voices of artists who are the primary source of the creative process and open ways for them to access their public. The ANT Project is a response to this need to open a space for creators to be heard and to build strength, both as individuals and as a group, to function with a solid voice.
This program is supported by Beach64retreat in the Rockaway, Queens, New York.
