ABOUT //
Swiss artist August presents the exhibition “Some Shine and Some Don’t” at Splatterpool artspace in Williamsburg (138 Bayard St, Brooklyn, NY 11222) which opens, Friday, October 26 from 8-11pm. August developed the site-specific installation for the interior and exterior of Splatterpool with architect Kelly Armendariz. The source material for this work is a music visualization device, the first of its kind, made by Atari in 1976 and Stanley Kubrick’s film “The Shining”. The film serves as a starting point for understanding connections between cinematic elements of sound, image and architecture. These are abstracted, translated, and rearranged into a physical experience which attempts to reveal the psychological potentials of the medium.
