My residency at Residency Unlimited gave me much more than time and space to conduct research in New York. It gave me an opportunity to build relationships.
Through studio visits, institutional meetings, public programs, and countless conversations, I was able to encounter the New York art community from within rather than simply as a visitor. The generosity of the RU team and its network opened doors to people and institutions that significantly expanded my understanding of international curatorial practice.
For me, the most meaningful aspect of the residency was discovering that mobility is not simply about moving from one place to another. It is about building the relationships, trust, and knowledge that allow exchange to continue after the journey ends.
I am returning to Seoul with new ideas, new relationships, and a much clearer sense of how I can contribute to international cultural exchange through my own curatorial practice. I am deeply grateful to Residency Unlimited for providing the conditions for that experience.
