I view the main outcome of the residency not only as a completed work, but as the development of a new body of research and methodology. RU gave me the distance to reconsider questions already present in my practice and to expand them toward questions of movement, navigation, inherited identity, and transformation. These ideas will continue to inform the next stage of my practice and future works.
I made many meaningful connections during my residency, both with artists and with curators and cultural practitioners. A number of conversations opened possibilities for future collaborations, exhibitions, performances, and other projects. At this stage, none of these opportunities are finalized, but I am continuing the conversations and will definitely stay in contact with the people I met during my time in New York. I see these connections as an important part of the long-term impact of the residency.
