Workshop: Create Your Online Exhibition with Walter’s Cube

Friday June 2, 2023 | 11am-12pm
Hybrid: Residency Unlimited and online (Zoom)

Walter’s Cube will introduce a new paradigm of virtual curating and creating exhibitions in the digital realm. The session includes a one-hour theoretical and practical crash course. Walter’s Cube Head of Partnerships, Barnabás Bencsik will deliver a comprehensive overview and theoretical background of online exhibition creation. He will explore the similarities and differences between virtual and real-life curating, while also considering the 3D spatial experiences of perceiving exhibitions online. CEO Balázs Faragó will conduct a brief technical demonstration on navigating digital twins and utilizing the Editor program, a toolset enabling users to plan, create, and publish their own virtual exhibitions.

After the presentation, participants can start developing their online exhibitions in the digital twin of Residency Unlimited’s headquarters, receiving the link and access code for the digital twin during the workshop. For those present at RU, Veronika Molnár, a member of the WsC team and a resident curator at RU, will be available on-site until 2 pm to provide technical support.

Online participants can join the workshop via Zoom. They will continue the meeting in a webinar format, where they can ask questions via chat, to which Balázs will respond by demonstrating the solution on his shared screen. Online participants will be able to work in a digital twin space via an access link provided by the Walter’s Cube team.

A recording of the workshop will be available on this event page, and Walter’s Cube will provide the opportunity to all RU alumni to create their own online exhibitions until June 30th. To receive an access link, please email vera@walterscube.com

All completed exhibitions will be published on the Walter’s Cube website in early July and participants will be able to share their exhibitions on social media and newsletter via an embeddable link.

To participate in the workshop, both offline and online, you will need a laptop as the Editor program is not compatible with smartphones, iPads, or other devices.
