Criteria:
– RU welcomes applications from BIPOC artists working across media
– Artists practice explores ideas connected to identity as an individual or as part of a larger community.
– Artists live in one of the five boroughs
– The artist has a valid social security number
– Matriculated students are not eligible
– Please note that this program does not offer studio space

  • Applicants must reside in one of the five boroughs of New York City.
  • Proposal

  • Tell us about yourself and your relationship with NYC. Tell us about your work, including but not limited to, the materials you use and your practice in general, how you develop your projects, the theme(s) of your work, and how you engage with and challenge history/histories.
  • Describe what you intend to work on and/or your goals for a three-month residency. Would you like to develop new work, complete a project, and/or conduct research? Based on what you know about RU, what type of support would you like? What resources will you need? Please let us know how you might benefit from RU’s resources and location in Brooklyn. Share a few successes if you’d like, and/or instances that provided invaluable learning experiences.
  • Upload a current CV.
    Accepted file types: doc, docx, pdf, Max. file size: 1 MB.
  • Include a PDF Portfolio with up to 10 images of works. Include title, date, and description of the work(s). Proposals for new projects must include images of previous work or installations. If you work in performance and/or with new media/video, include URL links in the input field below.PDF file cannot exceed 7MB or your application will not go through.
    Accepted file types: pdf, Max. file size: 8 MB.
  • Provide up to three URL links for performance and/or time-based work(s) in audio, film, or video.
