Featuring 2023 RU alum Talita Zaragoza in the RU voices interview series 🎤
Talita Zaragoza is a Brazilian artist based in Brooklyn who mainly works with painting, drawing, and photography. Her inspiration derives from the relationship between men and nature and its will to dominate and reshape the landscape leaving its mark. The artist combines a collection of landscape memories, recreating one that refers to imaginary maps. These maps constantly change, adapting to a new political or environmental situation, or more importantly, a different perception from the observer.
For the past few months Talita had a studio at the RU House at Governors Island where she produced a new body of works that were inspired by the island.
A special mention to Materials For the Arts which collects and redistributes surplus materials for free to our artists.
We are thrilled to present our artists in residence through intimate interviews and inspiring conversations about them, their works and the city!
