Field Trip to Museum of American Indian & Governors Island
RU residents exploring the Museum of American Indian & Governors Island
On Thursday August 24, RU artists Andrew Nicholls,Hadi Nasiri, Eva Davidova, Ada Van Hoorebeke, Carolina Paz, Daniel Mantilla (Liquitex Cadmium-Free Research Residency) and RU staff visited the Museum of American Indian and Governors Island. The artists discovered the diversity of the Native people of the Americas and learned about the history of the museum's building which used to be the U.S. Custom House. The second stop was Governors Island, a National Historic Landmark District which used to be a full-service military base for the US Army. The artists explored different parts of the island and visited the Audubon Society, an environmental organization dedicated to conservation.
