Duration: From one to three months. Longer periods are also possible. For experiencing the program, we suggest at least one month stay.

Costs: Residency program with provided accommodation: 650€ per month If you share the room with another artist the price is 500€ per month. Residency program without provided accommodation: 300€ per month

Program Description:

WORLD OF CO is a self-directed multidisciplinary Artist Residency Program, based in Sofia, Bulgaria.

The program give you the space and time to focus on your projects, while collaborating with international artists. WORLD OF CO encourages emerging and established artists to provoke their creativity by tasting the cultural diversity of Bulgaria. All participants live, explore, create and exhibit together.

WHY RESIDENCY IN BULGARIA?

Bulgaria is a country of contrasts and contradictions. The land is at a crossroad - geographically, historically and politically. The mixture of different influences – Thracian, Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman, European, Soviet, Balkan and so on, is still visible in the urban structures, architecture, culture, and traditions. The duration of the program can be between 1 to 6 months. (one-month is the minimum stay)

THE RESIDENCY PROGRAM INCLUDES:

• Accommodation in the city center
• Shared studio (10 minutes walking distance from the apartment)
• Traditional craft workshops (carpet weaving and wood carving)
• Weekly Bulgarian language lessons
• Guided museum / gallery tour
• Life-drawings session
• Artists' talk – present your art to the local audience
• Collective exhibition at the end of the month
• Sofia City Guide - a curated collection of art stores, print shops, contemporary galleries and museums
• Weekly list of art and culture events in Sofia
• Bulgarian phone number – SIM card

ACCOMMODATION

The residency has a five-bedroom apartment located in the heart of Sofia, next to the Vasil Levski monument. The artists are accommodated in a private fully furnished room, between 15 and 25 sqm. Each room consists of a bed, a nightstand, a desk and a wardrobe. The apartment has a fully equipped shared kitchen, a shared bathroom and a laundry room with a washing machine (free for use), Wi-Fi connection. There is also a shared living room to eat, talk and have fun together. The studio space is 10 minutes walk from the apartment.

STUDIO КООПЕРАЦИЯ

Shared studio space is at the city center, located within 10 minutes walking distance from the apartment. The studio is furnished 140m² large space (chairs, tables), including Wi-Fi and all utilities (water, heating, electricity, kitchen, toilet etc.)
The space can be used for different types of art events, workshops and exhibitions.
