Beginning in 2013, a partnership between Ucross and The Ford Family Foundation, located in Roseburg, Oregon, will support four mid-career Oregon visual artists for residencies at Ucross. The collaboration sprang from The Ford Family Foundation’s initiation visual arts program to support the exploration, conceptualization, creation, exhibition and documentation of new work by Oregon visual artists. Impetus for that program came from their board’s desire to honor the late Hallie Ford, co-founder of the Foundation, who left a legacy of a life-long interest in and support of the visual arts. Ucross Foundation Board member and past Ucross resident Tad Savinar, who lives in Portland, connected Ucross with the Foundation.
