The 3m Art Foundation opened its doors in august 2016 with the intention of creating a space for all, a space for artists in residency as well as for the community of Santa Marta. By creating such a place, where two communities with different interests, our aim was for this communities to come together and share with each other. Each residency, of a period of 3 months, will host six artists that will live and create together.
The project is the result of a conversation between two young artists who met in CSM college in London. Coming from Colombia and Brasil, the artists where eager for a change of scenery after three years in the UK and had a feeling many their colleagues felt the same way.
Santa Marta, a small Caribbean town with immense historical and cultural importance in Colombia, seemed like the perfect spot. The lively and colourful atmosphere would provide the perfect contrast in setting that they were looking for.
The residency is an opportunity for artists from all over the world to exchange ideas an inspiring and relaxed environment. For three months all selected artists will live in the same house and share a studio.
