Based in an old farmhouse in Oporto's district, Casa do Vinhal is a non-profit organization, founded in 2015, dedicated to the creation and development of artistic and cultural projects. Casa do Vinhal guides its action based on two fundamental principles: the democratization of the artistic field, seeking to question the differences between popular and erudite, traditional and contemporary arts, and the relation between arts and social sciences and humanities, producing critical and reflexive projects in dialogue with local communities. In addition to the production of various projects, Casa do Vinhal conducts seminars, talks, workshops, screenings and other cultural events.
In our residency program we are looking for artists or researchers who want a place to produce their work during this spring/summer. We offer good conditions for people who are trying to find a quiet place to produce their work, and we try to nourish a calm and inspiring environment enriched by a communal living between residents.
Acommodation and working conditions:
Casa do Vinhal is a rural house situated in Gondomar, a city in the suburbs of Porto, Portugal. The house is divided into two floors: the ground floor is occupied by workshops, studios and an exhibition space, and the upper floor is a fully equipped house. It has three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a large kitchen and living room. It can host a minimum of 2 people and a maximum of 5 people. The house also has a big patio and garden.
Despite the fact that Gondomar is a suburban city, the house is located in a very quiet place. The house is well suited with public transportation, with a bus stop five minutes walking from the house that goes directly to Porto city center, taking 30-40 minutes. The trip between Porto and Gondomar by taxi cost around 10€. Fundamental services like bakery, coffees, restaurants and a pharmacy are situated less than 10 minutes walking from the house.
